![]() ![]() ![]() Not so against a 54 or 56 series Electromatic imo even though they're a similar price. It's just the 54 and 56 series Electromatics are THE best mid priced guitars made by anyone today imo.Īfter 3 months I mod'ed my G5422 with lots of upgrades.īy the time I finished that the Sheraton had to go cos I couldn't even play it anymoreĬomparing a Sheraton (or any other Epiphone hollow body) with a Gretsch Streamliner would be a fair shootout. The model I had were the best guitars Epiphone made then - not sure now. It's an excellent mid priced hollow body imo and I really liked mine. This is in a no way any criticism of the Sheraton II. I sold the Sheraton, kept the G5422 and lived happily ever after. I gigged with both also.įor me the stock G5422 pooed on the mod'ed Sheraton thru the complete tone range from clean thru high gain. I A/B'ed it with a stock G5422 daily for 3 months thru same tube amps and multiple pedals. It sounded very close to a Gibson ES-335 when I finished upgrading. It was the first thinline archtop to hit the mass market, a jazz box on a diet, and players couldn’t get enough. In 1958, Gibson debuted the ES-335, a semi-hollow electric guitar that soon became known as the Dot for its minimalist pearloid inlay. ![]() My Sheraton II was a 2008 model that I mod'ed and improved to the max with Gibson Classic 57 PAF pups, upgraded wiring harness, bone nut, upgraded bridge, locking tuners etc. Four semi-hollow beauts from Epiphone, Gretsch, Ibanez and Vintage. I already did put it up against the Electromatic G5422 - I owned both for 6 months ![]()
